Theme: “youth Empowerment Through Capacity Building: Revitalizing Youth Voice And Agency Towards The African We Want,”
Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC) was delighted to participate in the Annual YouLead Summit, one of the largest youth leadership forums that transpired at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi from November 20th to 24th, 2023. The summit focused on the theme “Youth Empowerment through Capacity Building: Revitalizing Youth Voice and Agency towards the African We Want,” featuring Prof. Eddy Maloka, CEO of APRMorg, as a distinguished speaker for the Presidential Address session.
YouLead is a joint initiative of MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MSTCDC) and the East African Community (EAC) in Arusha, Tanzania, with H.E. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete serving as YouLead Africa’s current Patron. Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC) delegation of eight, led by Executive Director Dr. Nansozi Muwanga, actively participated in this impactful event.
The summit was honored to host His Excellency Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, the Former President of Tanzania and the current Patron of YouLead Africa. His Excellency Dr. Jakaya Kikwete engaged the delegates in an insightful Fireside Conversation session, reminiscing about the political landscape, mentorship, inspiration, and personal engagement.

The summit brought together policymakers from continental, regional, and national levels, along with youth leaders, private sector representatives, and NGO stakeholders. The overarching goal was to collaboratively develop indigenous, solution-based approaches to address critical youth development issues.
