The 88th Guild Minister for Off Campus Affairs organized a community clean up activity called 𝐊𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐢 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐤𝐮𝐦𝐢 𝐊𝐢𝐤𝐮𝐦𝐢 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐩 under The theme;
“Being Exemplary Through Creating a Clean Environment for Students and Society”
The clean up started with a gathering at The Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre at 9am of over 70 students and student leaders from Makerere Guild. This activity was graced by the presence of Mr. Lawrence Alionzi, the 88th Guild President of Makerere University who, in his opening remarks emphasized the need of keeping our public spaces clean with the addition of individuals maintaining their own personal hygiene and how it can significantly improve the growth and quality of life in communities they reside in. The clean-up was organized to educate locals on how to reduce the risk in different chronic diseases being spread amongst the population.
The activity was jointly sponsored by The Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC), Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Makerere University (MAK) and Makerere University Red Cross Chapter.
