I welcome Mama Nyerere – H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

I am always pleased to welcome Mama Maria Nyerere to Uganda. Her idea to pray for the canonization and beatification of our Father Mwalimu Nyerere is commendable. The Commemoration of the Uganda Martyrs is evidently a uniting factor as people from all over the world converge here for this purpose. It is also an opportunity for us to continue pushing Mwalimu’s vision for Africa. I welcome Mama Nyerere and thank God for her good health.

Maama Janet and H.E. Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni joined believers at the Namugongo Catholic Shrine for the Martyrs Day Celebrations. H.E. Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni welcomed the pilgrims, some of whom walked long distances as a demonstration of their commitment to the Christian faith. He saluted all pilgrims who have traveled from outside Uganda including “our mother”, Maama Nyerere.
