Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre organized a Media Blitz Roundtable, a One on One with Young Female Leaders on Transformative Leadership at Sheraton Hotel Kampala. The multimedia roundtable conversation kick started the three-day Presidential Lecture Series event which is an annual event that exposes students and the broader community to inspiring ideas, courageous leadership and models of civic engagement and civil discourse and brings prominent speakers, great leaders and thinkers across a wide variety of disciplines to Makerere University as a premier center of scholarly leadership for thought-provoking conversations.
This year’s Presidential Lecture Series was under the theme;
Women, Pan-Africanism, Community and Servant leadership.
Media Blitz Roundtable was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang who is a Gambian politician, activist and has served as Vice-President of The Gambia, and Minister of Women’s Affairs. The Media Blitz Roundtable was to highlight the systemic changes needed to enhance young women’s transformative leadership potential.
In her opening remarks, The Executive Director, Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC), Dr. Nansozi K. Muwanga stated that the JNLC serves as an important initiative to Makerere and society at large in grooming and equipping young leaders with the moral campus for leadership and a willingness to serve.
Mr Andrew Tumusiime and Prof. Sarah Ssali all Board Members, Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC) emphasized the need to empower, equip, raise young female leaders that will transform Africa.
The round table was also honored by the presence Makerere University 89th Guild President Mr. Maseruka Robert and other Panelists of the round table conversation that included ; Vanessa Masika, Sharifa Kiranda, Mariat Namiiro, Sharon Lunya (UMI), Gerald Oyeki and Kiggundu Muhammed.
