The Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre sent a delegation of four to take part in YouLead Summit2022 in Arusha Tanzania. YouLead Summit 2022 was held under The theme: Digital Access and Future of Work.
YouLead is a joint initiative of MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MSTCDC) and the East African Community (EAC) in Arusha, Tanzania. H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of Tanzania is YouLead Africa’s current Patron.

Since 2017, YouLead Summit has been convened annually by the East African Community (EAC), MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MSTCDC) in Arusha Tanzania through their youth engagement initiatives – the EAC Youth Ambassadors and YouLead–Youth Leadership Initiative respectively.
The team from the Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC) was headed by the Executive Director of the JNLC Dr. Nansozi Muwanga. In her (15)Minute presentation about The East Africa Community (EAC) Youth Fellowship Program, Dr. Nansozi Muwanga said “Meetings, forums, conferences, and summits are in themselves not a durable solution to address the leadership capacity gap envisioned for the youth”, She said;
“Youth need to access more mentorship programs and opportunities to engage with senior leaders and need to be exposed to job opportunities and to develop their leadership skills, particularly in the public, private, and civil society sectors”. Dr. Nansozi Muwanga

Youth are a human resource potential capable of driving Africa’s transformation agenda if adequately skilled and capacitated. Regional integration on various developmental matters provides opportunities for businesses and innovations that youth could benefit from.
Dr. Nansozi Muwanga also made a submission about the EAC YOUTH FELLOWSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROCESS, a result of six (6) years of engaging young people in the EAC region through the YouLead Forum. The idea of a fellowship developed out of the YouLead Summit 2019 held on November 11-13, 2019, under the theme: Youth at the Crossroads: Migration, Participation and Access to Opportunities.
The current partners of the EAC YOUTH FELLOWSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROCESS include; the The East Africa Community (EAC), The Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation (JMKF), MS Training Center for Development Cooperation (MS-TCDC), Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC) and Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF)
In her closing remarks, Dr. Nansozi Muwanga thanked YouLead Team for organizing the summit that gathered youth from across all regions on the African continent. She also thanked all organizers and invited delegates.
