This morning, Kintu Patrick, Guild Speaker of Kampala International University (KIU), together with his team, paid a courtesy visit to the Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC).
The delegation held a fruitful discussion with Dr. Nansozi K. Muwanga, Executive Director of JNLC, centered on opportunities for KIU students to further benefit from the Centre’s leadership training programmes and cross-generational conversations. Dr. Muwanga welcomed the team and shared insights into JNLC’s mission of nurturing transformative, values-driven leadership among Uganda’s youth.
The visit gave the KIU team an opportunity to benchmark JNLC’s programmes against their own student leadership initiatives, and to explore areas of collaboration that could strengthen leadership development among university students more broadly. Discussions touched on how structured mentorship, intergenerational dialogue, and hands-on leadership training can better prepare young leaders for the challenges of governance, civic engagement, and nation-building.
The delegation was accompanied by Gajule John Henry, a UNDP and KAS (Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung) alumnus, whose experience with both organisations added valuable perspective to the conversation around leadership capacity-building.
As JNLC continues to expand its reach across Uganda’s higher education institutions, engagements like this one reflect a growing recognition that cultivating the next generation of leaders requires deliberate partnership between universities and institutions dedicated to leadership formation.
