At the Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC), we believe that leadership is not a privilege, but a responsibility — one that calls for courage, integrity, and service to the people. Since our establishment in 2018, JNLC has been committed to nurturing a new generation of transformative leaders inspired by the servant leadership of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere.
We are proud to celebrate 10 of our alumni who, after completing JNLC’s leadership training, have taken the bold step of standing for public office across different regions and levels of governance. This act alone reflects bravery and conviction: a willingness to move beyond comfort zones and to answer the call of community and country.
Even more inspiring, several of our alumni have broken through barriers to secure elected positions. Their victories are not just personal achievements, but a testament to the values, confidence, and resilience instilled through our programs. They remind us that leadership is about inclusivity, accountability, and the determination to shape a better future.
As JNLC, we salute these trailblazers. Their journeys affirm our mission to equip young leaders with the skills, values, and networks to lead with integrity and purpose. They embody the spirit of Mwalimu Nyerere, who once said: “Without unity, there is no future for Africa.” By stepping into leadership, our alumni are uniting vision with action — and giving hope to the next generation.
We remain committed to walking alongside them and all our alumni, continuing to provide mentorship, knowledge, and platforms for dialogue. Together, we are building a cadre of leaders who will drive Uganda, and Africa, toward a future of peace, justice, and inclusive development.
Alumni Spotlight: Victories in Leadership
We are especially proud to highlight three of our alumni who have recently successfully won public office:

- Edonu Emmanuel Jr. He served as 26th UCU Guild Speaker and is currently: National Speaker, Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) @unsaugofficial
- Alionzi Lawrence (Dangote) @LAlionzi. He served as 88th Guild President, Makerere University. He was declared NRM Flagbearer for Arua City Mayor, 2026 General Election
By highlighting their accomplishments, we not only honour their individual achievements but also underscore the generative power of youth leadership when given deliberate mentorship and platforms for engagement. Each of them represents the living proof that young leaders, equipped with the right skills, mentorship, and values, can rise above systemic barriers and contribute meaningfully to national transformation.
